Little needs to be said about the Volkswagen Transporter with its enviable reputation for reliability, outstanding quality and superb ride and handling culminating in the latest T5.
Devon has added their years of experience to produce the Moonraker which must now be the longest running VW campervan model & is now in its Mark VI form. After 58 years it might be thought there is nothing new to do with VW camper design but Devon have listened to customers & tried to offer all the features that have been asked for, with as much choice as possible.
The Moonraker uses a layout similar to the traditional VW camper with kitchen units down the offside behind the driver and a back seat across the van for rear seat passengers. This seat is fitted with two diagonal 3 point seatbelts. The settee – with one easy movement folds flat to make a 6′ 2″ double bed. The Moonraker VI has been modified to give even more storage space in the back (room for a large dog). An optional roof bed is available in the elevating roof model.
Behind the rear seat there is a storage area with removable shelf and cushions for extra carrying capacity. A porta Potti is provided which lives conveniently under the rear seat. The kitchen is equipped with stainless steel two burner hob and grill, a matching stainless steel sink and a 60 ltr3 way fridge (Compressor fridge optional).
There is a gas storage cupboard which takes two Calor 405kg bottles. The water pump has been uprated to a more substantial pressurised type & is fitted internally to prevent freezing.
There is a mains hook-up as standard, two 230v sockets, a mains charger for the 110ah auxiliary battery and an auxiliary 12 v socket.
As well as the usual swivel passenger seat, on the Moonraker the drivers seat also swivels, enhancing the living area enormously and allowing four people to sit around the table in comfort.
